In the past, a porn magazine was usually a small booklet that featured pictures of nude women, sometimes apparently masturbating. But in 1965, Penthouse, a British publication started by Bob Guccione, took a different approach to female sexuality. This led to a shift in how women were portrayed, with many looking directly at the camera.
